Goodwood Church of Christ

Jerry Germany was born in Delhi, LA and grew up in Hammond. His father, Fletcher Germany, retired from Louisiana Gas Service and his mother, Lafoy, is a homemaker. Jerry has worked at Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance since July of 1984. For fun Jerry likes to fish, cook on the grill, watch movies, and watch his children grow up. Jerry and Barbara met in 1982 over spring break when Jerry was home from Harding University and Barbara was at Southeastern University. On their first date Jerry told Barbara that he was going to marry her. She laughed but sure enough two years later, after graduating from college, they were married. Jerry was baptized into Christ at the age of 12 by Tommy Winberry, and Barbara was baptized when in college during a Gospel Meeting in Amite. When they are not working or tied up with other commitments, they love to travel to the mountains to enjoy some family time away from the hustle of the city. They have two children: Jonathan and Jessica. The Germany's began attending the Goodwood congregation in September of 1997. Barbara is a Bible class teacher, and Jonathan and Jessica are active members of the youth group. The Germany's are thankful for the Goodwood congregation. They remember being welcomed, loved, and supported after coming to Goodwood and are thankful that they are still loved and supported. They treasure their children being baptized here and also enjoy the Bible Bowl each year. Jerry has served as a deacon for seven years, working in the area of education.
