Mothers Day Out

The Goodwood Mother’s Day Out program has been in operation since 1992 and we are happy to serve our community with a quality and loving program.  Our goal is to provide a loving, Christian education with basic academic skills and guidance for character building and social interaction skills.  The academic program serves as an excellent way to introduce the child to the world of learning outside the home environment.  Children who attend our program will be well-equipped to continue to the next age level class or on to the Kindergarten experience.

Our program consists of a written curriculum followed by our teachers at an age-appropriate level.  The children are encouraged to complete their own work and thus, the learning process is theirs, not the work of a teacher or aide.  Our program uses hands-on applications and crafts as well as music to teach a lesson or character value.  We teach biblical lessons each week that teach important facts and we look at those lessons for character instruction of how we should behave to please the Lord.  In addition to classroom music, we have a weekly music time in which the entire school gathers for fun songs and learning.  There is an on-going theme based on Galatians 5:22ff in which we learn about the Fruits of the Spirit.  That theme is incorporated into the teaching curriculum each month and we sing about it at each “chapel” time.  We use this theme to reinforce good behavior with recognition and positive reinforcement.  It has proven to be very effective and beneficial to the children.  Our aim is to aid the parent’s hard work by supporting Christ-like behavior in the child and encouraging correct choices while the child is at school.

Our teachers are loving and well-educated women who are well-grounded in the faith, and who possess the ability to teach effectively at the age-level they have chosen.  The Ones, and Twos classes have an aide, specific to each room.  The Threes and Fours share an aide.  The children eat snacks and lunch in our large gym facility which enables the teachers to maintain the level of cleanliness we demand.  The children enjoy playing on our ride-on toys and have meaningful social interaction with their peers apart from the classroom setting.  The children are constantly well-monitored by the adults assigned to their classes.  We also enjoy lovely outdoor playground equipment, and the children enjoy the different play setting when weather permits.
