Young At Heart

The Goodwood Young at Heart group is especially designed for “senior saints” 55ish and over. Along with gathering for a monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. in the B.O.B. (Building Out Back) on the first Monday of each month, the Young at Heart group participates in various service projects and trips throughout the year. Past excursions have included a trip to the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit, the Pompeii exhibit, and a fall trip to Gatlinburg, TN. Often speakers are invited to our monthly luncheons to share information about health care, legal matters for seniors, finances, or most importantly lessons stimulating spiritual growth among our seniors.

In addition to these trips, the Young at Heart groups ministers to all age groups in the church and in the community. Past service projects have included: gifts to area nursing home residents at Christmas, stuffing bags for area door-knocking campaigns, stuffing mail-outs for Katrina disaster relief reports, helping prepare crafts and teacher kits for Vacation Bible School, decorating Easter Eggs for children’s spring egg hunt, sending encouragement cards to ill on monthly basis, preparing food for sick and shut-in, sending Valentine’s to the youth group, and on and on.

For more information on this group, please contact the church office at (225) 272-8936.
